The Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA) is an independent, industry-led, non-profit organisation and we encourage participation from all interested parties. The SFA assures welfare of cashmere goats, environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically prosperous rangeland management through third-party accreditation and certification of cashmere. We facilitate non-competitive platform that enables cashmere supply chain stakeholders to come together and discuss sustainability issues, and to act as a catalyst for change.
TO ENSURE A RESILIENT AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR THE CASHMERE INDUSTRY, EVERY ORGANISATION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN HAS A RESPONSIBILITY IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC BALANCE IT CREATES. TO CREATE LONG-LASTING CHANGE AND A STRONG INDUSTRY FOR THE FUTURE WE NEED TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY AND WE NEED TO ACT NOW.
Campaigns and collective action by SFA members to raise awareness and influence the policies and practice of governments and institutions at national, European and global levels. Being part of the SFA provides a vital voice for your company on the cashmere industry’s sustainability agenda. Membership provides an opportunity for your company to influence the development of standards underpinning the future global production of cashmere. Our unique position in the sector allows you to influence policy decisions which are difficult to access as an individual organisation.
Create a more positive impact on environmental and social issues collectively and manage reputational risk. The SFA membership provides access to our project data to demonstrate the impact of your investment in sustainable cashmere production. The SFA helps your company to make credible, verifiable claims and demonstrates a positive impact on sustainability achievements at grassroots level. This includes testimonials from current herders, case studies from herder cooperatives and young herder skills training updates for your communications initiatives.
Keep up to date
Membership provides your company with the opportunity to attend SFA hosted events and learn more about the issues, challenges and opportunities of the cashmere supply chain. Networking with other key stakeholders and learning from other members’ best practices will further strengthen your company’s sustainability goals. Access to information from working groups can help early planning for future production methods; brings your concerns and needs to bear on a process that will affect you in the future; and helps you to compete globally in a highly challenging business environment.
Become part of a global initiative to secure a more sustainable future for the cashmere sector. SFA relies on the diversity of our members for collective voice, influence and better impact for success. Both businesses and non profit organisations who support the idea of improved grassland management and good animal welfare around the world can become an SFA member.
